Syafunda is a South African education and learning solutions organisation committed to improving educational outcomes through innovative, accessible, and learner-centred learning solutions.

The name Syafunda means "We Are Learning" in isiZulu — a reflection of our belief that learning is a lifelong journey that empowers individuals, strengthens communities, and creates opportunities.

What began as a digital education initiative has evolved into a comprehensive organisation supporting learners, educators, schools, institutions, and educational programmes across South Africa.

Founder Story

Born From Personal Experience

Zakheni Ngubo founded Syafunda in 2013 after experiencing educational challenges firsthand while growing up in Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal.

His experience of spending part of his high school years without a Mathematics teacher inspired him to explore how technology could be used to bridge educational gaps and expand access to quality learning opportunities.

This vision became the foundation upon which Syafunda was built — an organisation driven by the belief that no learner should be left behind.
